  • Database:   a collection of tables containing records of features
  • Spatial Data:   computer information that shows the points and lines on a map
  • Attribute Data:   descriptive information about the points and lines
  • Feature:   a geographic something worth keeping track of
  • GIS Layer:   a computer file that contains only ONE set of features
  • Function:   that thing you do   (on your job, that is)
  • Application:   something that helps you do that thing you do
        (paper maps, simple computer programs, tables of information, etc.)
